I have been writing songs from an early age but would say that the momentum of my song-writing really kicked in after university when I A) formed a Christian band (Kissing Earth), B) joined a church with a pedigree of in-house song-writing, C) got connected with a community of jam night performers & songwriters in the Sheffield music scene.
My main success has been in Christian song-writing especially for church, having had a handful of songs published and recorded (once in Nashville for Chris Bowater, one of my song-writing mentors who is well-known in the UK church.)
Other bands I have contributed to as a writer have been Fluid Dynamics (instrumental jazz) and Spacious (Christian Rock).
I write a lot for church and schools, working in both contexts, and also for a large local youth choir for which I have also done a lot of vocal/ band arrangements. Being a classically- trained pianist and a university-educated musician, I am fluent with notation, using Sibelius as my chief tool.
