Let Go

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song to encourage a close friend who was working through a difficult marital separation.

Song Description

In the first verse, one partner is realizing that there is no longer any love between them while holding hands and asking her partner to let go.. The second verse is encouraging that partner to move on, there's something out there they need to focus on and sticking around in a dead relationship will get them nowhere. The last verse sums it up with a final request to turn their head to the future and let go of this expired relationship.

Lyrics

Like an October marigold withered on the vine
Your hand is cold when its holding mine
Just let go, let go
You're standing on the edge
Of something strong
Staying here might hold you back to long
Just let go, let go
Jump like a bird with wide white wings
Into the great unknown
Just let go
let go
Forget about the here and now responsibilities
Turn your head to the future and what is meant to be
Just let go
let go, just let go..

Great opening imagery that fits perfectly with the musical intro..."hand is cold when it's holding mine"...Song builds well behind the Judy Collins=like vocal performance...there's a guitar highlight in here swell...great tone and sparsely played break...Nice work

This artist has a very nice sounding female voice and the arrangement is quite pleasant. I had a little bit of trouble understanding some of the words, so maybe just increase the volume in the mix on the lead vocal..just a thought! She sounds a little like Judy Collins and that's a huge positive comment coming from me, she's one of my favorites!!

Nicely produced pop song that urges the listener to "just let go." Could be interpreted as a 'freedom to break up' song or even a graduation or retirement send-off song. Chorus is a good and memorable hook. I really like the lead guitar solo/instrumental break and the background vocals sweeten the mix.

Beautiful lead vocals, I like the sound of the drums and the rhythm guitar as well. Reminds me of Joan Biaz.

Great classic pop/rock '70's sound. Just a well crafted song all the way around. Enjoyed listening to it.

This song reminded me of the folksy tunes by the sixties group Peter, Paul and Mary. It's very soothing and laid-back, and would be great in any easy-listening collection, an impression the artist may have meant to give with the uplifting message of "Just Let Go". The singer has a good tone, bringing out the melody well, and also keeping the easy, free spirit of the lyrics.

Nice sounding intro, well produced. Made me think of Natalie Imbruglia until the vocals came in, which are Joni Mitchell like.

Nice harmonies at 1 minute and a good chorus although I felt it could have been sung with little more feeling.

A good sounding recording, the electric guitar has a lovely sound and sounds akin to a Smashing Pumpkins lead break.

PASTED: I paste this bit on all my reviews. I like listening to songs and try and be constructive in my comments. I always listen to the full song and say what I hear but this is just my opinion.

I really enjoyed this song! I could see this having a lot of sync potential as it has lots of "space" and is not over-produced. Really liked the arrangement, instrumentation was spot-on, and the vocal harmonies were just right - not too much, and right where you thought they should be.
