Moonshine Cafe

Story Behind The Song

The Moonshine Cafe in Oakville, Ontario is a warm and cozy little music venue that caters to Indie musicians. They don't make a lot of money, but they are always ready to accommodate. John Marlett and his girlfriend Jane totally support the indie music scene. I just had to write a song - and the words are all true!

Song Description

This is the story about The Moonshine Cafe in Oakville, Ontario and about the owners, John and Jane. It started out as a simple 12 bars blues in E, but Tony Quarrington got involved and thought it would be fun as a Bluegrass type feel, so he arranged it, added in multiple layers of guitars and of course his Mandolin. The tempo got picked up and I end up doing my June Carter Cash impression on the vocals.

Lyrics

INTRO 12 BAR Intro

If you like to sing
and you like to play
you should come on down to the
Moonshine Cafe

You can bring your
gueetar, and your mandolin
come up onto the stage, and
you will fit right in
You can bring your
gueetar, and your mandolin
come up onto the stage, and
you will fit right in

Feel a little hungry
Feel a little dry
You can get a pizza and a
great big glass of rye

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a
home-made butter tart
Check out the surroundings &
all the local art
