Mother Dot's Blues

Story Behind The Song

I composed this track for a short documentary about Mother Dot. She ran a number of Jazz Clubs in Philly in the late 1950's. My goal was to get it as close to a sound of a band that might have played at one of her clubs back in the day. One of my music mentors was the great jazz organist and pianist, Trudy Pitts so I had some idea of what was needed. The budget was small so I had to be able to pull this off with me playing all the instruments. The turn around on the whole score was one day so everything had to be written, performed and produced super fast. The Organ is B4, The guitar is an Ibanez blonde George Benson hollow body played through a first generation Line 6 pod.
