Story Behind The Song
In the early 2000's, I was hired to compose the score for the short film, The Violin. The film is about a young Hungarian Jewish couple 20 somethings. They are both music students. They are taken to adjoining concentration camps. Their love, as well as their love of music, is more enduring then the barbwire fences and the vile nature of the NAZIS.
Song Description
The Violin Suite is composed of all the cues from the film connected together as one piece of music. The first cue is an introduction to the couple and their love but includes the darkness of occupied Hungary. The second is the despair and isolation of the camps. The third cue is when they see each other across the field that separates the men and woman. (It is so Stravinsky). The fourth cue they get a note to each other. The last cue is when they meet at night at a fence, and they touch for the first time in a long time.
