Story Behind The Song
Every Thanksgiving my UU Church has what is known as Wild and Precious Sundays. We read the Mary Oliver poem, 'The Summer Day' and then members of the congregation, one from each decade of life, tell the congregation what they will do with their one Wilde and Precious life. Of course when I was asked to do this, I answered in song. The Song was such a hit with the congregation I decided to record it.
I found the most amazing singer Matt Pillion who is the lead singer of the southern rock band, Stole Rhodes. Matt was so awesome. Because it was for my church and I was going to use it as a fund raiser for our drug and alcohol recovery program, he agreed to just do it for no charge. How awesome! I also love the Warren Zevon song 'Keep Me in Your Heart for a While'. While my song sounds nothing like that song, I drew inspiration from the Zevon masterpiece. I know it is in poor taste to talk about something you did and being something you love, but the ending guitar riff is the best homage to Jimmy Page's acoustic guitar playing I have ever done. That makes me so happy.

Lyrics
I'm gonna sing from June 'til May
I'm gonna write a new song each and every day
Open my mouth if I've got something to say
With this wild and precious life
I'm gonna love unconditionally
Love, love will set me free
I'm gonna open myself up to what this world has for me
With this wild and precious life
I'm gonna run, sun gives me Vitamin D
I find joy in every face I see
Fly so high over green, green trees
and never coming down
I'm gonna dance with the ones I love
Dance with the spirits and the morning dove
Dance to the drummer deep inside of me
With this wild and precious life
I'm gonna grow like every plant I see
From a seed to infinity
Grow from sorrow, happiness, pain and joy
With this wild and precious life
I'm gonna live with a fire in my soul
Like a wise old sageI will never grow cold
and when I'm gone, one thing you can do for me...
Live a wild and precious life
Live a wild and precious life
Live a wild and precious life
