Story Behind The Song
The wolves that once ran free over North America are now listed as endangered species. Most of those remaining are struggling for survival in the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Although elusive and frequently controversial, their great intelligence, fierce loyalty and intensely wild nature harkens the traits that are deep within us. The Nez Perce Indians of the region consider the wolf sacred. He is associated with inner strength and intuition, his hunting abilities, silence of movement and stamina well respected. His howl is a communication to the spirit world and he is symbolized in the natural world by the clouds.
