Story Behind The Song
A long time ago I had a real full-on battle with my thought life. Unwanted evil thoughts kept creeping into my head. This song was my battle cry. I owe special thanks to my friend Anne Cooper. I had to rewrite verse one and she gave me the idea of the bird on the head. Hooray for Anne!
Song Description
Using the metaphor of a bird (representing an evil thought), the Christian shoos the bird off his head. Satan is the author of those thoughts and must be driven away by the power of Jesus Christ, who is invoked to fight the battle. The victory is won when Jesus comes on the scene and drives the devil away. With a fun melody and rollicking piano, this catchy tune will encourage Christians to "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." II Corinthians 10:5

Lyrics
I will not yield to your temptation.
I will not entertain your stinkin' little voice
I cannot stand your crummy tactics.
You want to ruin all us Christian girls and boys.
An evil thought
Is like a bird
That bird just landed on my head.
In Jesus' name, Begone! You heard me! Scram!
I will not let you build a nest. Evil pest!
Oh Jesus, help me fight my battle,
The one that's raging in... my... mind.
Oh won't you fill my thoughts with scripture?
And Puri Puri Purify!
Oh I love light!
And I love truth.
And Living Water's good to drink.
I'll take a gallon just for starters, Lord.
Then we can fill the kitchen sink. (dink da dink!)
And now I'm skippin' and I'm a hoppin'
'Cuz Jesus drove that wicked thought away
And with His blood He washed up my thought life.
And sent the devil back into his place.
INSTRUMENTAL
Oh I love light (repeat as above)
And now I'm singin' and I'm a dancin'
'Cuz Jesus drove that wicked thought away
And with His blood He washed up my thought life
And kicked the devil out
He popped him on the snout
And sent him back to hell where he belongs!
