Story Behind The Song
How is it that I never knew one of my fellow musicians had such low appreciation of my musical abilities? He never let on until that fateful moment when he heard the music for the first musical I co-wrote with my brother, Scott and blurted out "Wow! I had no idea you could write like that! I didn't realize you and I were on the same level." Well, he deserved the tidal wave that hit him after that. It prompted me to write this song, using my middle name "Alice" as the title. I had fun with the unusual rhyme scheme and also enjoyed yanking his chain with the lyrics which include a threat to uncover other secrets he was hiding.

Lyrics
Alice
I never asked you to build me a palace
All I asked is that you not call me Alice
But, oh, you did it
And once you did it
I knew that I couldn't live without it
I know I can get messy and often disheveled
But still I always thought we were on the same level
Till you informed me
I wish you'd warned me
You think you're an angel and I'm some kind of devil
Now that your secret is out and your soul is laying bare
I bet you wish you'd thought more about keeping secrets safely
Where I can't find them
'Cause now that I've found them
I can't help but wonder what others are lurking there
