The phrase "break two hearts to keep from breaking one" appeared in my psyche. It led me to imagine what it must be like to be part of a union you thought was "the one" only to discover that the true love of your life was waiting around the corner. But, to some, the promise of "'til death do we part" is one that trumps over all others, even if it means breaking two hearts to honor it.
