Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song decades ago (yes, I said "decades"!) but, when I brought it into the studio, my producer & muse, Bill Bentley, once again made it into a different (and better) song. Inspired by my then-spouse, the song was meant to be a combination of blame and gratitude. Blame for making choices that affected me in a way that was so crushing at the time and then gratitude for what turned out to be a guide to a new path that brought me where I am today.

Lyrics
V1: Changes - I have been going through some changes
I'm not the one I used to be - I've been set free
I used to care for you too much and me too little
As though your Midas touch turned me to stone
Changes - changes
V2: Changes - you put me through a lot of changes
But I really don't mind - you weren't unkind
You made me go out on my own so you could go your way
Now I'm coming home - this time to stay
Changes - changes
Bridge: Here's your chance
Look at your life
You have a friend
When you find your own light
V3: Changes - there've been some monumental changes
You wouldn't know me now - I'm different somehow
And now it's up to you - take it or leave it
I'll make it through my life
Changes - changes - changes- changes
Through my life
