Story Behind The Song
One of my children was experiencing a painful break-up (is there any other kind?) After listening to the particulars, I was inspired to write this song, which is based on that break-up but which definitely reflects others. My favorite line is "You made it clear I'm never right - you're never wrong." Anyone out there ever felt that way? My brother, Scott, included this song in our musical "Wedded Bliss," in the scene in which the groom erupts during an over-the-top wedding planning session and storms out of the room.

Lyrics
I'm Outta Here
V1: Caught up in a circle of denial
Trying to ignore this mess we're in
Thinking if I look the other way
I might win
Win another chance to make you happy
Though I've tried and tried without success
At the end of day all I can say
Is I did my best
Cho: I'm outta here - I'm so gone
You made it clear I'm never right and you're never wrong
I meant it when I said I can't shed one more tear
Before we make one more mistake
I'm outta here
V2: Did you ever think we'd come down to this
You there on your side, me on mine
Maybe putting an ocean between us
Was a sign
A sign that we weren't meant to be together
When it takes so much compromise
Did you even once try to consider
Life through my eyes
Cho:
Bridge: That's the thing about trust
Once it's gone, it's gone for good
We fought the good fight
But try as we might
It's just not the same
I'm out of this game
Cho: I'm outta here - I'm so gone
You made it clear I'm never right and you're never wrong
I meant it when I said I can't shed one more tear
I've taken all I'm gonna take - I'm outta here
I'm outta here
