Story Behind The Song
An invitation to go see a band playing a couple hours away turned into a suspenseful drive back with passengers continually yelling "Stay in your lane, Wayne" as our intoxicated driver happily sang along to the radio, oblivious to the terror in the back seat. There was a suggestion to omit the name "Wayne" but, as one of my longtime friends said," Everyone can relate - we've all known a Wayne who fits the description."

Lyrics
Cho 1: Stay in your lane, Wayne
Don't go outside the lines
It'd be a shame, Wayne
To waste your life and mine
Use your brain, Wayne
Don't make me say it twice
This ain't no game - this is life
V1: I know you think you're way too cool
To have to follow some silly rule
But this is one test you can't afford to fail
If you don't want to spend one more night in jail
Cho 2: Stay in your lane, Wayne
I'm speaking as your friend
Your five minutes of fame, Wayne
Are coming to an end
Don't complain, Wayne
Or try to put it on someone else
You got noone to blame but yourself
V2: No need to hurry - you'll get where you need to go
No need to worry - just take it slow
If it feels like you're carrying too heavy a load
Just stop and pull off to the side of the road
Repeat Cho 1
