Story Behind The Song
I had 11 songs for my Lullaby CD. 11 is an odd number. I needed a 12th song to round it out! I reviewed the subject matter of my 11 songs and decided a song about pajamas would be just what I needed. Then the Simple Gifts tune came to mind and BAM! God blessed me with these lyrics in no time flat. Every song is a gift from God. This one just happened to come in wrapped in soft flannel.
Song Description
With guitar, mandolin, hammered dulcimer and sweet kids vocals, Mrs. Kate's Jammies song is a treat for the ears and easy to sing along with. The tune is a traditional Shaker song, now wrapped in soft flannel. My grandson's favorite verse is "And as I stand by the mark on the wall..." Even when your child is grown out of his/her favorite jammies, I hope they'll never grow out of this song.

Lyrics
Jammies

(To the tune of Tis a Gift to be Simple, traditional, public domain)
There's a hole in the knee and a button is gone
But I climb inside and stifle back a yawn
The cloth is soft as it kisses my skin
And I snuggle under the covers again. CHORUS
CHORUS: Jammies, I love my favorite pair.
The only ones that I like to wear.
They keep me warm and they feel like a friend
As I snuggle under the covers again.
If my jammies could talk, if my jammies had eyes,
They'd tell when I fell and bumped my head and cried
They soaked up my tears in their flannel and then
I snuggled under the covers again. CHORUS
INSTRUMENTAL
And as I stand by the mark on the wall,
I'm inching up and growing rather tall.
I cannot wear my old jams anymore
So sadly they hang on a hook by the door. CHORUS
